Confessions of a Lipstick Addict: Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks
I have written about Colourpop on literally every blog I've ever done a feature or guess spot on, so it's only right that I write about the brand here too. In this installment I'll be talking solely about their Ultra Matte liquid lipsticks. If you read the last post in this series, you'll know all about my disdain for lip glosses or glossy lipsticks, so matte lipsticks are right up my alley. I think I initially heard about Colourpop through Ellarie - as she has a lipstick and pencil with them. Although I was intrigued because I'm a lipstick person and at the time that's what Colourpop was mostly known for, I waited a while before placing my first order which was comprised of the Ellarie items and ultra matte lipsticks. Hey I am a matte girl after all.
As a matte girl, the Colourpop ultra matte lipsticks were made just for me. They're SUPER matte, SUPER pigmented and everything a matte girl would want in a matte lipstick. However, I will admit that they dry out your lips like none other. They are not moisturizing at all, but I own so many, that I have just gotten accustomed to the feeling that my lips are dying and about to fall off my face. (Yes, depending on the color it can be bad). I have also noticed that even though they're matte some of the colors do transfer a bit - and that is one quality about them that I do NOT like at all. On top of that, some of the colors I don't use as often have started separating horribly. (However I must note here that I initially hated Limbo but now that it has started to separate it is the matte brown lipstick of my 90s fly girl dreams). But when you think about the fact that the lipsticks are only $6 you quickly realize that the small negatives really do not matter as you can buy the same color again and still spend less than you would on a single high end lipstick.
Lately Colourpop is honestly one of my favorite lipstick brands because it has both normal, everyday colors and the more wild colors. There are a variety of finishes, matte, ultra matte, matte x, satin and the list goes on and on. The products are inexpensive but the pigmentation is always bomb. And it's an easy to stalk brand because people are ALWAYS posting photos on Instagram and Twitter. I follow Colourpop on snapchat and I can always see when new products are about to launch AND they use brown girls to show the lipsticks on different skin tones.
When it comes to the Ultra Matte lipsticks, I own: Be-Dazzled, LAX, Are & Be, More Better, Beeper, Guess, Mars, Chi, Sundae and Limbo. Pro tip: my two favorite combinations in this collection for an ombre lip are LAX & Beeper and More Better & Sundae.
Comment below and let me know if you have some colors from their Ultra Matte collection that I don't own yet, but probably should.
