Confessions of a Lipstick Addict: Nyx High Voltage Lipstick

I haven't done a lipstick post in a good long while, but I recently scrolled through my photos and saw the lipstick photos calling out to me.  So I'm back.  This time I'm talking about the Nyx High Voltage Lipstick.  Now I'm the first to recommend Nyx lipsticks to any and everyone.  For the most part they're my favorite low end makeup brand.  However, everything about these lipsticks suck.  In fact, I don't even know why I hold on to them because I only wear 2 or 3 of them on rare occasions AND I have to keep them separate from all my other lipsticks how messy they are.

When these initially came out, I was super excited to buy them because at the time, I thought some essential colors would be added to my collection.  The colors I purchased were Playdate, Twisted, Beam, Pink Lady, Free Spirit and Dirty Talk.  I only wear the first three of them.  These didn't end up being anything I needed.  And I've found much better colors and formulas to replace them. 

The packaging is horrible - the tops all cracked within days of purchase so now they're loose and fall off all the time.  That there is the reason I have to keep them in a ziploc separate from everything else.  If the top slips off, the lipstick gets EVERYWHERE.

That leads me to the second thing - the formula is HORRIBLE.  On the lips they bleed everywhere.  It's gloopy and glossy and drippy.  It transfers so badly.  And it's what makes the inside of my lipstick bag look disgusting because of the loose cap issue.  The cap and lipstick are just loose.

The colors also aren't what I thought they would be.  When I bought them, there were no testers so I just picked them up on faith and that was a bad idea.  Moreover the purple ones leave horrible stains on my lips.  I still love Nyx.  I love pretty much every other product I own from them, but the high voltage line was a huge failure for me.  I probably still won't throw them out though.  I guess that's why I am a lipstick addict.
