Confessions of a Lipstick Addict: Nyx Simply

Confessions of a Lipstick Addict: Nyx Simply

#NoBareLips30 (an online lipstick challenge - Read about it by checking the hashtag on Twitter or Instagram or good ole trusty Google) starts today so I wanted to focus on the colors I'm wearing to kick off the challenge in this installment of confessions of a lipstick addict. Today is also National Lipstick Day so I wanted to do something bright.  The lipsticks I'm wearing today are from the Nyx Simply collection. They have Simply Pink, Simply Nude, Simply Red and Simply Vamp. Currently I own one shade from Simply Pink (French Kiss) and one shade from Simply Vamp (Temptress) and I almost always wear them together.

As with the majority of my Nyx collection, I purchased both of them at ULTA. I actually swatched the entire Simply Vamp collection and while Temptress stood out the most, they were out of stock minus the tester so I had to stalk my ULTA until they restocked. The Simply Pink & Simply Red collections didn't show up in my store until later and while the Reds were flattering, none of them stood out to me or were different than any other red lipstick that I already owned. When it comes to French Kiss I almost talked myself out of buying it because I thought I had too many pink lipsticks already. But the lipstick addict within told me to get it anyway.   The Simply Nude collection was a bit to light for me in totality so I never considered buying any of them.

Although French Kiss swatched really pretty on my hand, as a stand alone on my lips it gave me too much of a Candy Yum Yum feel and I absolutely detest Candy Yum Yum. For that reason alone I kept it in my lipstick bag unused forever. That is until last season of #NoBareLips30 where I wouldn't use any lipstick that I had used earlier in the challenge so I got the bright idea to mix it with the other simply lipstick. Since then, the duo is my absolute favorite ombré lip.

I love the lipsticks because the jumbo pencil style makes it easy to glide on, the color payoff is awesome and they're not super matte but not glossy either. And that always makes for a good lipstick in my case. Nyx is def my favorite low end brand for lipsticks. The colors and the feel are always great and the price is also pretty good, especially for someone like me who buys lipstick in bulk.

I'm encouraging every lipstick lover to participate in #NoBareLips30. Today's a free day to celebrate national lipstick day so just post a pic of your makeup with the hashtag. Explore other people's post and get ready for 30 days without a bare lip.
